BELIEF STATEMENTS

We, the staff at Thomas Simpson Middle School believe:

·   that all students can learn, just not in the same way or on the same day;

·   in providing an atmosphere where all students are free to make and learn from their mistakes;

·   that technology is an integral part of learning;

·   in creating diverse, relevant  and innovative learning opportunities;

·   in developing an atmosphere where all are appreciated and respected;

·   in developing a partnership with parents and the community;

·   in a safe and positive learning environment;

·   that all students are expected to meet high academic standards;

·   curriculum, instruction, assessment and appropriate academic interventions must be aligned with high standards;

·   the curriculum emphasizes deep understanding of important concepts and the development of essential skills;
