    HOW TO ACCESS SERVICES:

    • Parents may call (535-6800) or e-mail Mrs. Sager, Barnes School Counselor/Social Worker
    • Parent may ask teacher or Principal to contact Mrs. Sager
    • Teacher may request consultation and then consult with parent/guardian
    • Mr.Smith, Principal, may request consultation and then consult with parent/guardian

    CURRENT SERVICES:

    This school year we have several lunch groups that have already begun. There are several friendship groups, as well as, grief/loss groups.

    COUNSELOR/SOCIAL WORKER INFORMATION:

    Mrs. Patricia Sager, LMSW, ACSW, CSSW has served as Barnes School's Counselor since 1995. She is a 1976 graduate of Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and a 1981 graduate of The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a Masters in Social Work.

    Mrs. Sager has been a Social Worker for 30 years and has worked in the following areas: Community Mental Health, Residential Treatment, Domestic and International Adoption, Family Therapy, Trauma and Loss, Hospice and School Social Work. Her experience in School Social Work/Counseling spans over 20 years.

    In addition to her duties as the Barnes School Counselor, Mrs. Sager also serves as the District's School Social Worker. In this capacity, she is a member of the Special Education Multi-Disciplinary Team and evluates and serves students with special needs.

    In 2005, Mrs. Sager was recognized as the Michigan School Social Worker of the Year by The Michigan Association of School Social Workers.

    In 2006, Mrs. Sager was awarded the Social Worker of the Year for the State of Michigan by The National Association of Social Workers.
