Teacher Biolgraphy

Welcome:  My name is John Dickinson.  I teach human physiology at Flat Rock High School.  I have a BS degree in biology and chemistry from Eastern Michigan Universty and a MS degree in secondary education with an emphasis in biology.  I have taught biology and human physiology for 40 years at Flat Rock High School.

 What to expect in my classroom.

I expect students to be present in class and on time, prepared to learn by bringing their book, human physiology notebook and writing supplies, willing to participate in class disscussions and lab, be respectful to the teacher and other students and to come to me with any questions and concerns they might have.

 Class Syllabus:  Human Physiology

Human physiology is the studyof the human body and how it functions.  Units of study will include the cell, bones, neuron, brain and nervous system, the eye, disgesti ve system and the heart, blood and circulatory system.  The units will be supplemented with dissections of the brain, eye, rat, and fetal pig.

 

 

Class Calendar (timeline)

Chapter 3:  The Cell 2.5 weeks, Chapter 5:  Bones 2.5 weeks, Chapter 8 & 9 nervous system 3 weeks, Chapter 10 The Eye 3 weeks.

Chapter 13, 14, 15:  The Digestive System 3 weeks, Rat Dissection 1 week, Chapter 19 & 20 Heart & Blood  4 weeks, Fetal Pig Dissection 3 Weeks.
